Orrell Footbridge Installation Time-lapse

The Orrell footbridge provides public footpath access across the slip-road at J26 of the M6 / M58 in Orrell, a suburb of Wigan. It sustained damage after being hit by a HGV, meaning a new bridge was required. Installation of the new replacement footbridge took place in 2020, meaning residents on either side of this busy stretch of the M6 were reunited again! The project cost £1.8 million and was completed by main contractor, A E Yates Civil Engineering.

A E Yates deployed a 24/7 working schedule, with the majority of works undertaken at night. We used short term time-lapse photography and onsite filming with a manned camera to capture the install of the Orrell Footbridge, and you can see the film below:

We hope you enjoyed watching our time-lapse film of the installation of the new Orrell Footbridge.
