Back in 2021, Regenology had the pleasure of filming timelapse and drone footage of a new Watersports Centre at Willen Lake, for The Parks Trust.
At Willen Lake, you’re now able to book into watersport sessions, hire a pedalo, launch your own craft or take part in Aqua Parcs.
The building itself has modern changing rooms and additional public toilets. It is fully accessible, with level access, lifts, accessible toilets and baby change facilities. The Parks Trust have also included a full Changing Places facility, which will accommodate people with additional needs.
Next to the Watersports Centre you’ll also find the new state of the art café. Spanning over two floors this new family friendly café, which is operated by Change Please and gives stunning views across the lake from both its terrace and balcony areas and allows for the opportunity to dine alfresco.
Part of the improvement works at Willen Lake also include a large extension to the already popular play area. The new extended play area has been designed with different age ranges and needs in mind. The larger play area is suitable for slightly older children and has a wide range of equipment. There is also an area suitable for younger children and those with additional needs that is situated close to the new watersports centre. This area has been designed to allow for pushchairs and wheelchairs to easily access the play equipment. It has a wheelchair accessible roundabout, a basket swing and extra wide slides so that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The improvements at Willen Lake are entirely funded by The Parks Trust, the independent charity that cares for the greenspace in Milton Keynes. The income generated from activities and car parking at Willen Lake contributes to this.
It was a privilege to work with The Parks Trust on this project. And brilliant to see months and months of time-lapse, hundreds of thousands of photos, come together with drone shots of the completed centre.
What a way to show off the stunning location and surroundings to the lake and to showcase the wonderful new watersports venue!
